All problems contain the seeds of opportunity, and this awareness allows you to take the moment and transform it to a better situation or thing.

Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

I don’t know about you, but as an American, and more specifically, a Black American, lately I’ve been thinking a lot about societal challenges. Not only the ones that primarily exist because of systemic racism or the conscious or unconscious denial of it. But also the challenges associated with gun violence.

Although there are many other challenges we face as a nation. These are the two I’ve thought a lot about since stories of the societal ills stemming from them are a constant part of our daily news cycle. Even though I’ve chosen to wean myself from being a sponge soaking up every new breaking news story. I stay engaged enough to be an informed citizen while detached enough to maintain my sanity and peace of mind. It is a conscious balancing act.

However, I’m not writing today about the multitude of challenges we face as a nation. I’m sure every person reading this story has ten issues you could rattle off as our most dire challenges. Instead, the focus of this story is on how we get to the resolutions for the challenges we face.

The resolutions depend on what we do with the moments after we become aware of the problem. I ponder.

Full disclosure, I have not read the book and this is not a plug for it or Deepak Chopra. Though I will note the over seven thousand global reviewers who have given it a 5-star rating. I came across the quote while reading an excerpt from a book titled Confirmation, The Spiritual Wisdom That Has Shaped Our Lives by Kephra Burns and Susan L
